Meet The CRM Doctor
I believe the best CRM isn't the one with the most features.
It's the one that helps you enjoy running your business again.
My name is Annette James, and I help wedding professionals, event specialists and photographers build CRM systems that are easier to use, easier to trust and easier to run their business from.
Whether you're already using VSCO Workspace or you're looking for a better way to manage your business,
my goal is simple...
To make your business better.
I didn’t set out to become a CRM Consultant.
I set out to make businesses better.
Throughout my career, I've always been fascinated by how businesses work. I love understanding what makes them tick, finding opportunities to improve the way they operate, and helping business owners feel more confident in the way they run them.
Long before The CRM Doctor, I spent many years in senior management, leading teams, mentoring people, improving systems and helping businesses work more effectively.
What I enjoyed most wasn't managing people.
It was listening, solving problems and making things easier for everyone involved.
That passion has never changed.
Today, I get to combine everything I've learnt throughout my career with something I genuinely love - helping business owners build systems that support them, not overwhelm them.
I notice things.
I don't just look at the task you've asked me to do.
Years of leading teams and improving business processes means I naturally see connections, opportunities and improvements that often get missed.
Sometimes the biggest breakthrough isn't the job you asked for.
It's the one we discover together.
I understand your business because I run one too.
I'm a business owner, just like you.
Every workflow, automation, questionnaire and email template I recommend comes from real experience - not just because I've learnt the software, but because I use it every day in my own business.
As a wedding celebrant, VSCO Workspace sits at the heart of how I manage my enquiries, bookings, couples and client experience. It keeps my business organised, helps me deliver exceptional service and gives me confidence that nothing is slipping through the cracks.
If something doesn't make sense in my own business, I won't recommend it for yours.
I understand your industry because I'm part of it.
One of the things I hear most often is:
"It's so good working with someone who actually understands our industry."
And they're right!
As a celebrant, I'm regularly working alongside venue owners, photographers, videographers, florists, DJs, MCs and content creators.
Through The CRM Doctor, I’ve also worked with wedding and funeral celebrants, florists, photographers, cake makers, DJs, elopement companies, many other wedding professionals and funeral directors too.
So when we work together, you don't have to spend half the session explaining how the wedding industry works.
I already understand the moving parts, the pressure points and the kind of client experience couples expect.
One of the biggest advantages I bring isn't just understanding your business.
It's understanding your clients.
I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of couples during one of the biggest moments of their lives. I know what reassures them, what creates trust and what makes them feel genuinely looked after.
That insight shapes every CRM I build.
Because a great CRM isn't just about keeping you organised.
It's about creating an exceptional client experience from the very first enquiry through to the wedding day—and beyond.
What it's really like to work with me
Every business owner is different, and that's exactly why I listen to you.
You'll quickly discover I'm not your stereotypical "computer person."
I'd much rather have a laugh, roll up my sleeves and work through your business together than bury you in technical jargon.
I'm easy to work with, easy to talk to and flexible. Life happens, business changes and sometimes plans need to change too. That's all part of running a business.
I ask a lot of questions and listen, because the best solutions come from understanding how you work—not from forcing you into someone else's system.
I'm also a natural problem solver.
I love thinking outside the box and finding practical solutions that other people might not see.
If there's a smarter way to make Workspace work for your business, I'll find it.
In fact, custom fields and creative workarounds have become a bit of a speciality of mine.
They're often the difference between a CRM that simply stores information and one that genuinely supports the way you run your business.
When we finish working together, I don't want you to have the cleverest CRM.
I want you to have the right CRM.
One that feels effortless.
One that works the way you do.
One that makes you enjoy running your business again.
A little more about me
Outside of work, my world revolves around my family.
I'm married to Steve, and together we have three amazing children and eight grandchildren who keep life busy, fun and wonderfully unpredictable.
They're my greatest joy and my biggest priority.
I've been lucky enough to have a career that's challenged me, stretched me and given me opportunities I never imagined. For more than 20 years, I threw myself into my work, and I genuinely loved it.
Those years taught me so much about leadership, business and people, and they've shaped the way I work with my clients today.
But they've also taught me something else.
A successful business
should support your life -
not become your life.
These days, success isn't measured by how busy I am or how many hours I work.
It's measured by having the freedom to spend time with Steve, my children and my grandchildren, while still doing work that I absolutely love.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll usually find me conducting weddings or funeral ceremonies, reading a good book, or travelling around Australia with Steve in our caravan.
That's exactly what I want for my clients too.
I want you to have a business that gives you confidence, supports your family and gives you the freedom to enjoy the life you're working so hard to build.
